Business Donations & Sponsorship

If you would like to support our tree planting work, please read the notes below for more information.

To discuss a donation, a bespoke planting project, large numbers of trees or any other sponsorship plans, please contact our team (details below).

Notes on sponsoring trees:

  • A €5 / £5 donation covers the cost of planting at least one tree via our planting projects.

  • For bespoke planting projects costs are between €5/£5 and up to €20/£20 for fruit and nut tree projects, please contact our team to discuss plans and costs per tree.

  • Donations and sponsorship funds are used for the following:

    • Assessment, planning and design of tree planting projects.

    • Purchasing trees: We buy a large number and variety of trees each season for our planting projects.

    • Packing, labelling and distribution of trees: All of our trees are carefully labelled, bundled and packed for distribution by our brilliant packing teams. They are sent on to the planting sites via our own team of drivers or by courier, depending on the size of each delivery. We also run local collection points where trees can be collected for planting from one of our depots.

    • Planting of trees: Whilst most of our landowners plant their own trees, we occasionally employ specialist planting teams to ensure high quality planting work at larger or more complex planting sites.

    • Monitoring of trees & re-stocking: We monitor trees until they are five years old to ensure successful establishment. Any sites with significant failures are supplied with additional trees for re-stocking as needed.

    • Other costs: Coordination costs, insurance for the planting events, packaging materials, office and packing centre running costs, administration, communications and reporting.

  • Sponsored trees are planted at appropriate sites as small woodlands, shelter belts, coppices, hedges, wood-pasture, orchards, individual trees, rows and avenues of trees, landscape and amenity trees, reforestation and agroforestry projects.

  • Trees are planted on farms and smallholdings, at community sites, in schools and colleges, with local councils, at golf courses and sports clubs and with other landowners who look after and manage the trees as they grow.

  • We plant native Irish trees grown in Ireland. The most common species we plant are downy birch, common alder, oak (sessile & pedunculate), Scots pine, hazel, rowan, crab apple, hawthorn & blackthorn.

  • Our next tree planting season will run December 2023 - March 2024. Please contact us before Friday 15th September 2023 for tree planting during winter 2023-2024.

  • You can plant trees for any purpose, for example you may wish to plant a tree for every sale the business makes; for every employee or for every client. We can work with you as needed to craft the right message for your business communications.

  • All trees become the property of the landowner at the point of planting on agreement that they will be sustainably managed as permanent tree cover.

  • We don't guarantee that every tree will live to old age (though many will). We work to establish continuous tree cover that will be managed as a sustainable resource for many generations. Selected trees may be thinned, coppiced or felled in future years, some trees will blow down in storms, others may be attacked by pests and diseases. Trees drop seed and/or put up new growth from the roots; continuous cover management allows constant regeneration and permanent tree cover in the landscape.

  • You will be welcome to help out with planting your trees if you’d like to make a day of it. Trees are planted January to March each year and we encourage sponsors to rally a team and join in with the planting work.

  • You’ll also be able to visit your trees as they grow and establish. Sponsors work teams are always welcome to come and help with maintenance work such as weeding, re-stocking and pruning in future years.

  • When your tree planting is completed, we will provide you with a detailed planting report, showing where your trees have been planted, who will be looking after them, the species mixes used, management details and all sorts of other information.

  • Carbon: We are often asked if we can plant trees to offset carbon for businesses. We don’t offer a carbon offset service; this is because Ireland doesn’t yet have a formal system for measuring or calculating carbon locked up in the diverse kinds of mixed-species tree cover that we plant for our projects. There are further complexities around ownership of the trees, the land they are planted on and the carbon stored in the trees and the soils. We are always happy to discuss carbon in more detail with businesses - please do get in touch if you have any queries at all.

If you would like to sponsor trees, please email to us and we will arrange a call with you to discuss the details of your project and plans.
