One Million Trees in One Day is a charity, not-for-profit, cross-border, community and environmental initiative which aims to plant a million young native trees at many different sites across both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland in 24 hours.

We will establish individual trees and woodlands in both rural and urban areas that will grow for many many years and which will provide valuable resources, beneficial ecosystem services and a lasting legacy for future generations.

During our pilot phase in 2013 and 2014 we have planted almost 350,000 native trees in Ireland and Northern Ireland.  We have trialled the project in detail and have trees planted at over 1,000 different sites across the 32 counties.  This summer we are working to secure full funding to plant a million trees during the coming 2014 /2015 planting season.

Planting a million trees in one day is a great challenge.  We believe that many hands make light work; the more people joining the huge team that will bring this project to fruition, the easier the job will be.
