One Million Trees in One Day is a charity, not-for-profit, cross-border, community and environmental initiative which aims to plant a million young native trees at many different sites across both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland in 24 hours.

We work to establish individual trees and woodlands in both rural and urban areas that will grow for many years and which provide valuable resources, beneficial ecosystem services and a lasting legacy for future generations.

During our pilot phase (2013 to 2016) we have planted over 650,000 native trees in Ireland and Northern Ireland.  We have trialled the project in detail, planting at over 1,500 different sites across the 32 counties. On Saturday 20th February 2016 we planted 250,000 trees at just under 500 sites in Northern Ireland.

We are working to secure full funding to plant a million trees in one day next season.  Please click here to see a map of our planting work so far.

Planting a million trees in one day is a great challenge.  We believe that many hands make light work; the more people joining the huge team that will bring this project to fruition, the easier the job will be.
